LREC Partnership

SheepChain™ works in collaboration with the University of Wyoming’s College of Agriculture and Natural Resources – Laramie Research and Extension Center (LREC). LREC’s mission is to serve the citizens of Wyoming, the region and the nation by providing faculty, staff and students with quality resources to excel in research, teaching and outreach.

Each year, the wool clip from LREC’s growing heritage flock of 300 ewes provides the raw materials for the blanket project. Not only do those ewes allow us to bring ideas like the Blanket Project to life, but these kinds of initiatives help fund and support sheep teaching, research, and extension efforts within the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources. LREC also serves the people of Wyoming by providing real-world working agriculture experiences for the students involved, in addition to supporting industry-leading research available to the invaluable sheep producers.

Further projects in collaboration with SheepChain™ will allow LREC to continue supporting teaching, research, and extension efforts within the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources at the University of Wyoming. Each current and future project in collaboration with LREC and SheepChain™ helps ensure our heritage is not left in the past, but rather it becomes something sustainable, supported by innovation.
